Organic Chest Rub Balm

Rakiura Cough Away Chest Rub has both powerhouses Kūmarahou & Kawakawa. Both plants have been used for generations, traditionally for breathing, congestion, sinus relief, coughs and chest complaints from the common cold.

These plants along with carefully selected essential oils of Lavender, Manuka and Lemon, work together to ease congestion, shift stubborn mucus, help a nagging cough and clear the runny nose.

Gentle and effective our chest rub will bring relief for all the family at times of nasal congestion and pesky coughs. Applying before bedtime will aid sleep when stuffy noses are problematic.

Key ingredients

Kumerahou (Pomaderris kumeraho)

A native New Zealand plant that has been traditionally used by Māori for its medicinal properties. Kumerahou has been used for generations, traditionally to support respiratory health. It is believed to have expectorant properties, helping to loosen and expel mucus from the respiratory system. It has been used to alleviate symptoms of coughs, colds, bronchitis, and asthma.

Kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum)

One of the most important plants in Maori medicine. The bioactive molecules of Myristicin in Kawakawa are believed to be responsible for the plants healing properties. Kawakawa has anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Kawakawa leaves have been used to support respiratory health. relieve symptoms of coughs, colds, and respiratory congestion.

Lavender oil

Used as a decongestant to unclog the nasal airways and relieve out sinus pressure.

Manuka

Is great being used as a support during coughs and colds to help clear the respiratory system, support immune defences and aid recovery.

Lemon oil

Studies show Lemon oil also has antimicrobial and immune support properties, great to diffuse or as an inhalation for coughs and colds.

Directions

Massage into chest and back area as needed.

Recent anecdotal evidence shows that applying to the soles of feet and covering with socks can also provide relief for some coughs.
